Early Reviews of
The Cartainos

Review #1:

The Cartainos, Men of Passion • Men of Stone, is not a simple family history. It does trace generations of this family’s lives through its significant accomplishments, failures, tragedies, and renewals.

But the author’s comprehensive knowledge, experience, and extensive education enables him to do much more. He deftly interweaves world history and philosophy with insights and practical life advice. That has culminated in a global masterpiece that will engross and engage you.

Through his singular dedication and enormous effort spanning many years, Scarpitta skillfully commands your attention. He educates, enlightens, and counsels us. At the same time, he sparks an enduring curiosity about our own collective ancestors.

This book is a must read! It is a TREASURE!!

Review #2:

L. Salvatore Scarpitta’s “The Cartainos, Men of Passion • Men of Stone” is the most absorbing and heartfelt story I have read in years. The author’s writings about Salvatore and this unique and loving family made this reader feel the connection and heart of each member. The author kept me turning the pages. The book shows us that even those who are talented and famous can also be ordinary, caught up in the best of times and the worst of times.

You will feel this family’s pride, courage, heroism, failures, and tragedies. You will feel their quest to live the American Dream.

The Author’s great writing and many digressions are wonderful. They will educate you and take you into thoughts of why lives and situations sometimes change so rapidly, and what it could all mean for us today.

This is a book you won’t want to put down.

Review #3:

There are two attributes that define a great book: remembering the author's graphic details for years to come, and the effect it has upon a reader's life.

THE CARTAINOS: MEN OF PASSION, MEN OF STONE has both of these qualities, and much more. Scarpitta was able to tell the story of his family that was not only applicable to my own, but has profoundly changed the course of my life. Rather, the relationship between myself and my family has been altered in profound and still unknown ways.

Before consuming the richness of the prose making up THE CARTAINOS: MEN OF PASSSION • MEN OF STONE, I was content spending my life away from my family. There were only occasional visits, funerals and weddings.

Though difficult and challenging, I have now been able to stop my life for four months of the year, travel 5,000 miles, and spend time with my mom, my brother, my nieces, and cousins... There's no price tag, no monetary figure, that can be placed on the sacredness that is family.

That's the crux of this book.

Review #4:

This book, "The Cartaino's Men of Passion Men of Stone", is a riveting true story of men and women. Not only are they great artists, but they are true patriots, and heroes. When we truly understand our past, we will begin to understand ourselves. This is a must read! It was very hard to put down.

Review #5:

The Cartainos, Men of Passion * Men of Stone is an interestingly informative book that intertwines family history through generations of world history. This is a must read for the young and old.

The author brings to life the true story of the trials and tribulations of creating a life and legacy in America. His style of bringing in the challenges that many face while progressing from one generation to the next keeps the reader enthralled. I would turn a page always looking forward in anticipation to learn what was next. Once I picked the book up I could not put it down.

I enjoyed the style which made it relevant to me while helping me learn and grow. Anybody would find elements that they could relate to.

The illustrations helped me visualize much of what had been written of a strong and proud family and their legacy. I felt a connection helping put me in the stories of each new character. There is rarely a more complete book.

I highly recommend this book to become part of one's own library. I look forward to reading more from this author.
